About

We are a registered School with the Royal Academy of Dance and International Dance Teachers Alliance and follow their examination syllabus, which are of an extremely high standard.

Classes are held weekly during the school year and children must attend regularly.

We are very lucky to have an excellent professional pianist who accompanies most classes. This allows us to give our complete attention to the lesson, as well as making it musically enjoyable. When children reach the required standard they can be entered for the R.A.D. and I.D.T.A. Graded and Graded Vocational Examinations. We also have I.D.T.A Tap and Jazz classes and examinations available.

We are also very lucky to have an excellent faculty including, Mr David Long R.A.D. Registered teacher, former head of dance at The Dance School of Scotland at Knightswood, ballet master with London Festival Ballet (now English National Ballet) and principle dancer with London Festival Ballet. Mrs Heather Long R.A.D. Graded Vocational Examiner and former dancer London Festival Ballet, Mrs Mary Darke registered R.A.D. teacher and former dancer London Festival Ballet and Miss Angela McArthur registered R.A.D and I.D.T.A. teacher with commercial dance experience. All staff have Enhanced Disclosure.
Children can take part in the school `Performance` held in a local Theatre and it is always greatly enjoyed by those who take part.
Children who show an aptitude for dance are encouraged to attend more than one lesson per week increasing to 5 lessons a week for children wishing to pursue dance as a career. Children attending 2 or more lessons a week are eligible to take part in the various ballet competitions and festivals we attend each year.

Older children who wish to take up dance as a career have gone on to further their studies at full time dance schools including American Musical and Dramatic Academy (Los Angeles), Bird College (London), Central School of Ballet (London), The Dance School of Scotland at Knightswood (Glasgow), Elmhurst School of Dance associate school to Birmingham Royal Ballet (Birmingham), The Hammond School (Chester), Kate Simmons Dance Ltd (Warrington), The London Studio Centre (London), London Contemporary Dance School at The Place (London), Laine Theatre Arts (London), Millennium Dance 2000 (London), The Urdang Academy (London), Tring Park School for the Performing Arts (London), The Northern Ballet School (Manchester), Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance (London), The Royal Ballet School (London), The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (Glasgow), SLP College (Leeds) and The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance (Dundee).
